Centre for Aviation and Peace, Security & Conflict Governance
Addresses disarmament, cyber-security foresight, and aviation’s peacebuilding potential. Leads research on airspace deconfliction, peace corridors, and conflict-sensitive aviation governance.
The Centre for Aviation and Peace, Security & Conflict Governance serves as a forward-looking think-and-do tank dedicated to reconfiguring aviation as a tool for peacebuilding, conflict de-escalation, and global security cooperation. Positioned at the intersection of disarmament, cyber diplomacy, and strategic foresight, this Centre interrogates the ways aviation both contributes to and can mitigate complex security challenges in the 21st century.
Central to its mission is advancing aviation disarmament governance, including the responsible regulation of dual-use aerospace technologies, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and militarized aviation infrastructure. The Centre supports international dialogues on airspace neutrality, arms control treaties, and peacekeeping air logistics, while highlighting the gendered impacts of aviation-related conflict.
It also fosters innovation in peace corridors—conceptualizing and supporting demilitarized aerial pathways for humanitarian access, climate migration, and post-conflict recovery zones. These efforts include scenario planning, diplomatic simulation, and the design of air-based trust-building mechanisms between states and regions in conflict.
Addressing the rise of cyber threats in aviation, the Centre explores predictive models and governance mechanisms for AI-enabled threats, space-based surveillance, and aviation cyber-resilience. It collaborates with multilateral organizations, peace research institutes, and cybersecurity networks to establish robust conflict-sensitive aviation policy frameworks.
With an emphasis on inclusive peace processes, the Centre integrates the voices of women, Indigenous leaders, and marginalized communities into aviation security decision-making. It advocates for feminist peace strategies and localized conflict mitigation solutions grounded in ethical foresight.
Through a blend of research, policy incubation, and global advocacy, the Centre redefines aviation as a catalyst for sustainable peace and security architecture, not merely a bystander or battleground in global conflict dynamics.
