Centre for Aviation and Human Rights, Humanitarian Futures & Social Inclusion
Advances rights-based aviation strategies for humanitarian aid, refugee response, and social inclusion. Elevates ethical aviation practices in crisis zones and vulnerable regions.
The Centre for Aviation and Human Rights, Humanitarian Futures & Social Inclusion reimagines aviation not just as a mode of transport, but as a vital enabler of human dignity, humanitarian access, and equitable inclusion in global systems. Positioned at the nexus of rights-based governance, humanitarian strategy, and social equity, this Centre challenges aviation actors to uphold and advance human rights in every aspect of their operations and policy frameworks.
This Centre conducts critical research on how aviation infrastructure and policy can support humanitarian innovation—including air bridges for disaster relief, medical evacuation, refugee transport, and emergency supply chains—especially in conflict zones, climate-vulnerable regions, and remote geographies. It works closely with UN agencies, civil society, and international NGOs to establish aviation as a pillar of humanitarian diplomacy and resilience planning.
With a strong focus on social inclusion, the Centre advocates for aviation systems that are accessible to people of all genders, abilities, castes, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. It interrogates how exclusion manifests in airport design, airline policy, refugee air mobility, and digital access to aviation services, while co-developing solutions with marginalized communities.
The Centre also supports the development of rights-based aviation regulations that incorporate international humanitarian law, the rights of Indigenous peoples, climate justice frameworks, and protections for vulnerable populations in air travel and logistics.
Through impact assessments, strategic foresight, and participatory design, this Centre ensures that the future of aviation is shaped by justice, compassion, and systemic inclusion—leaving no one behind in the global skies.
